Gilas Pilipinas fall short against Croatia, Missed by Chan could have won the game

Gilas Pilipinas almost shocked the world with their first game at FIBA World 2014 against the Croatia Team today.

Led by their mighty mouse point guard - Jimmy Alapag, the Gilas climbed up high a 15-point led by the Croatians.

Scored only a 9 points in the first quarter, the Gilas players looks like they are on panic. By the end on that quarter, starting the 2nd quarter the crowd favorite team start knocking behind the Croatians by scoring 22 points and only down by 6 points on the half time.

When the time is winding down to end, Jayson Castro find its way to tie the ballgame and end up with the Pinoys on the last shot.

Jeff Chan missed the shot that could end up winning.

It was a sorry miss but nonetheless it was a good shot. Not to be ashamed of idol Jeff Chan.

At the over time, Gilas only scored 7 points with the last shot provided by Blatche to bring the led back to one and then commits a foul to stop the clock.

The Croatians only missed 2 free throw by their point guard O. Lafayette with 90% on the foul line. Meanwhile the Pinoys hitting only  76.9%.

We were undersized but we fight with heart. Today we prove that we are not pushoffs on this contest and we are here not only to play but to prove we are ready to play in this leauge of basketball.

Gilas are set to play their 2nd game against the power house Greece at 2am (Ph time) on September 1, 2014.
