Manila : August 1 is "Corazon Aquino Day"

Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim signed the proclamation which declares August 1 as "Corazon C. Aquino Day" in the City of Manila in the 2nd death anniversary of the late Pres. Corazon Cojuanco Aquino today.

Media Bureau Chief Ric de Guzman said that the inauguration is led by the Manila Mayor Lim, its city officials, employees, students and the residents of Manila in a wreath-laying ceremony held in Ninoy-Cory Aquino Park in Burgos st., and Bonifacio Drive st. in Ermita Manila today at 8 am.

New Tropical Depression Named "LANDO"

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) named a new tropical depresion "LANDO" which is coming closer to the Philippines area of responsibility.

As issued earlier today around 6:30pm, the active low pressure area west of Northern Luzon has developed into a tropical depression.

DOH Skills Olympics And Benchmarking 2011 Champion

The DOH (Department of Health) celebrates its annual "National Disaster Consciousness Month" with a theme of  "Makialam, Magkaisa sa Pagsugpo sa Panganib, May Maitutulong Ka".

July 1 - 31 is the Disaster Conciousness Month and every year the DOH conducts a "Skills Olympics and Benchmarkings" to strengthen the disaster preparedness of each hospitals and local government rescue unit.

Azkals Lost To Al-Azraq 2-1

The Azkals earlier this night lost to Al-Azraq in a 2-1 score with an aggregate score of 5-1 at the end of the buzzer.

Stephan Schrock scored the only score of the Philippine Azkals in the 47th minute while the chances made by the Al-Azraq gives them 2 more points in the 61st and 83rd minute of the game.

Magnitude 5.9 Strikes Luzon

Earlier this morning around 1:15 am, the Luzon felt a magnitude 5.9 earthquake that strikes Luzon. 
According to U.S. Geological Service (USGS), the earthquake epicenter was 102 km West-Northwest of Metro Manila; 24 km Northwest of Olongapo City; 54 k West-Southwest of Angels City in Pampanga; and 108 km West-Southwest of Cabanatuan City.

It's depth is about  61.3 km, and was felt in surrounding areas like Cainta and San Mateo towns in Rizal and lasted for about 10 to 30 seconds in their respective area.

At 4:00 a.m. today, Tropical Depression "JUANING" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 130 km East of Virac, Catanduanes (14.5°N 125.1°E) with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 17 kph.
Northern Luzon and the Eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon will have occasional rains with gusty winds. Visayas and the rest of Southern Luzon will experience cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rainshowers and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. Mindanao will be mostly cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast to Northwest will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and coming from the Northwest to Southwest over the rest of Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the Southwest with slight to moderate seas

Azkals VS Al-Azraq On Thursday

The Philippine Azkals and the Al-Azraq of Kuwait came to the Philippines last Sunday evening at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Enough Food For Filipino People

Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala assures that there is enough food for Filipino people until 2013 because the people cooperates to the program the Government has given for the agriculture sector. 

In the 3rd cabinet cluster in the Pilipinas Natin forum on NBN 4 in Quezon City with regards to the climate change mitigation, adaptation and food security, Alcala said that the agency is continuing its advocacy to make the rice varieties be known all over the country. 

PH : To Ask For Extension On Saudization

Senate minority leader Alan Peter Cayetano plead the Malacanan Palace to ask an extension to Saudi Arabia with regards to the emerging "Saudization" policy starting this September in which overseas Filipino's are afraid of.

Rape Against 4 Azkals Member

The accusations against four (4) Philippine Azkal members of a rape case has been totally in tense , the Azkals stated that they don't know the issues and they pleaded not guilty on it.
Members of Azkals who were engage to this issues are Neil Etheridge, Anton Del Rosario and Simon Greatwich and Jason Sabio.

"I've heard a lot of rumors and speculations, that this person (Weiler) is trying to get back at the team because we had a fall out while we were in Germany," Sabio says in an interview. "I don't know the full story, they're all rumors".

MILO Marathon Dagunpan

More than 7,200 runners joins the Dagupan City Quialifying race in the annual 35th National Milo Marathon at CSI Mall grounds yesterday. 

The University of Baguio top seeded the race by their men and women's best runners. At men's division. a 26 year old second year AB Hotel and Restaurant Management student Hernani Sore finished the race of 21km in a time of 1:14:41.

On the women's division, Jessa Mangsat finished the race by 1:32:20 who was a 3rd year Mass Communication Student of University of Baguio.

The two will join Reynaldo Pascua and UB track runner Mercy Taypoc in National Finals at Quirino Grand Stand on December 11, 2011.

The Milo Marathon Advocacy "Help Give Shoes" thru this Marathon will give 500 pairs of shoes to Lingayen Central School I, Alaminos National High, Calasiao Comprehensive High, Pangasinan Elementary and Gregorio Del Pilar Elementary.

Senate Bill 2790 : Speed Limiter's Act of 2011

Sen. Antonio Trillanes handed his proposal on limiting the speed of PUV's here in Metro Manila. This is due to its continuing accidents that involves PUV's more than any vehicles on the road.

As per Sen. Trillanes, his Senate Bill 2790 or "Speed Limiters Act of 2011" will reduce the accidents on the road. The Bill will mandate all the owner of PUV's to install a speed reducing device on their vehicles while the DOTC (Department of Transportation and Communication) will be the one to assigned to checked it.

PNP Needs More Police Force

The Philippine National Police to have a problem on their police force in regards with the increasing population here in the Philippines. 

PNP Spokesman Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr. said that the increasing population here are the biggest problem of the force. From the ideal ratio of 1:500 or 1 police personnel to 500 individual people before-the ration turns to 1:746 respectively.

Roach : "After Marquez, Your Next"

If Floyd Mayweather really likes to fight Pacquiao now, he just have to wait for the trilogy of Pacquiao-Marquez to end on November. Roach said on ESPN in an interview.

PBA To File Charges Against Dubai's Organizers

PBA Commissioner Chito Salud and the rest of the PBA will file charges against Dubai organizers after what happen at the 2011 PBA Governors Cup games at Dubai United Arab Emirates.

Due to errors made by the organizers, the PBA needs to issue a promissory note for about P1.3 million to make sure that all the 80 individuals will flight home after the sell out crowd at Al Shabab Sports Club.

Azkals : Sweet Revenge

More than 16,2000 people watched the battle of Azkals and the Sri Lanka at Rizal Memorial Football Field last Sunday. 

The Azkals wanted to prove something and they didn't disappoint their fans after they defeated the raging Sri-Lankan's in a 4-0 score lead.

Duterte: "I Said Wait For Me Sheriff!"

Davao Mayor Sara Duterte comes in a huge controversy after punching Sheriff Abe Andres of Davao Regional Trial Court. 

"I actually sent him to the hospital after the confrontation. I think that's sorry enough," Duterte said in an interview afterwards.

Duterte added that the Sheriff refused to wait for her before pushing through with the demolition. "I was asking for a two-hour extension to avoid riots. But He push it through".
