Senate Resolution 547 For Dragon Warriors

Even the Senate admires how the Dragon Warriors that give credits to our country. With this, Senator Francis Pangilinan submits a resolution to honor the Philippine Dragon Boat Team that takes a five (5) gold and two (2) silver medals in the 10th International Dragon Boat Racing Championship in Tampa Florida.

"The Philippine Dragon Boat Team has brought to our country honor and recognition by displaying superiority and excellence in the international competition. For that, they deserve no less than our respect and support". Senator Pangilinan said in his Resolution 547.

Two new records were made by the Filipino paddlers beating power house teams like Australia, Hungary, Italy, Trinidad and Tobago and Russia.

The Filipino paddlers are composed of the members of Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard and The Philippine Air Force.

Aside for the appreciation, Sen. Pangilinan also wanted the Senate Committee to review the Games, Amusement and Sports on how the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) process and give their supports to the athletes.

"It's unfortunate that we continuously hear about Filipino athletes performing superbly and displaying excellence despite the lack of government support. Our athletes are giving our nation honor and recognition, and they bring hope and exceptional aspirations to our people. It is about time the government's concerned agencies give their complete and unqualified support to our athletes".

The Filipino paddlers were not helped by our Sports Commission because they were not recognized as member of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
