Sen. Legarda: "Total Plastic Ban"

Flood is the main problem when rainy days are coming not only in Metro Manila but in all regions in the country.  And with this, Sen. Legarda again reiterating the enforcement of the "total ban" of using plastic bags all over the country.

Legarda said that one of the main reason that flood cause too much problem is because of the unclogged drainage. The unclogged drainage is caused by non other than "the plastic".

Research done by United States Environmental Protection Agency says that almost 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are used every year.

While the World Wildlife Fund says that almost 200 different marine species died because of "ingestion" and "choking" because again of the plastic bags.

In a Senate Bill 2759 or The Total Plastic Bag Ban Act of 2011 that Sen. Legarda submitted, it acts the total ban of using plastics and non biodegradable in groceries, supermarkets, restaurants, public markets, fast food chains, department stores, retail stores and other stores like them.

We hope that this "total plastic ban" be enforced as soon as possible. We are supporting this one Sen. Legarda.

Thanks for this great info. Lets all preserve our mother nature. Stop using plastics.
