GSIS Housing Loan Stops

GSIS stop the housing loan for their members?
Having our dinner while watching news (TV PATROL – ABS CBN) found out that Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) stopped their program - HOUSING LOAN for their members.  I was affected because I'm a government employee since 2006, and now even if I have never availed it I'm still dissapointed.

The GSIS stopped accepting housing loan applications after April 28 for the reason of  growing numbers of borrowers who are failing to pay their dues.
Around 1.4 million government employees are still active GSIS members. The agency has more or less P11 billion unpaid housing loans for 17,000 properties.
GSIS assured its members and the public that theyre financial situation is still strong, and housing loans awarded before April 28 will still be honored.
The GSIS also noted that it made P40 billion last year. However, not everyone believes that the GSIS is financialy stable. Past GSIS officials are pinpointed as the cause of this and the Congress is now planning to conduct a probe on this issue.

Government employees, public teachers in particular are the ones mostly affected. It's so sad because our very last option for immediate economic relief is unkindly taken from us.
